You'll probably get blasted for issuing this piece. But thank you for doing it and showing that not all technology reviewers are in lock-step with the Democratic party.

I completely disagree! Although I didn't vote for Obama because he approved the bailout of the crooked banks and those crooks on Wall St. that should have gone to jail instead of getting big bonuses I was rooting for him and I'm certainly glad he was elected considering the alternative. Bush and the republicans almost completely destroyed the country in 8 years and we really needed a change with leadership to take us in a new direction. Now, instead of the hopeless and despair of the Bush years we finally have a reason for hope that the future can be better. I don't think he's actually doing enough to try and correct all the bad things the Bush Administration did in eight years but I guess he can't do everything at once. He does need to get toughter with the right wing radicals though. I think Bush and Chaney and most of their staff should be in prision by now. They should be tried for war crimes and treason. Bush has caused the deaths of more Americans in the 2 needless wars that he started than the terrorists killed on 9/11. Also, we really do need to have that investigation of 9/11 to find out what role the government played in letting it happen since the Bin Ladens were some of Bush's best friends at the time. In any case, since Bush did everything he could to keep us enslaved to big oil while sending all our money overseas to his friends in Saudi Arabia and the republicans have done everything they could do to destroy the middle class by sending jobs overseas and getting Americans laid off, a change in another direction is certainly a good thing. I've heard complaints from republicans that the stimulus hasn't created as many jobs as promised but they neglect to mention that republicans caused most of the job loss in the first place. As for all the republican right wing radio personalities broadcasting messages of hate all day on the radio and demonstrators that are against anyone getting health care and the pastor whos praying for Obama to die of brain cancer, why haven't the democrats unleased the riot police with billy clubs to take care of those idiots? If they had been demonstrating against the Bush administration and praying for him to die they would all have disappeared into Bush's secret overseas prisions by now! Where were all those demonstrators when Bush was starting 2 wars to get a lot of people killed or when congress voted to repeal the regulation preventing banks from reckless speculation that let them lose billions of investor's dollars and have to be bailed our or when Wall St. had to be bailed out after recklessly losing billions of dollars while still getting big bonuses? Those idiot protestors seem to have their priorities all wrong, they are so opposed to anyone getting healthcare but at the same time I bet they don't even have health insurance since they obvioiusly don't have jobs and aren't working. Anyway, I think Obama should hire Chaney to be an inforcer to ruthlessly take care of all the opposition he's been having then things would get straightened out quickly.

"A European-style lacklustre country"? Ta very much! You seem to be right up there, and I don't mean on top of the world.

The US health care system needed sorting out what with so may of your people without any access to it. Why did previous incumbants sit on their big hands?

Not evil,

Scott

Although I do not come to this web site to hear political views, I do appreciate the separate and clearly labeled segment which Ben made to express his heart felt concern for our country. I don't agree with everything he said, but I would defend his right to state a political view. At this time in our country's history we are widely divided as to which moral course to follow. Both Liberals and Conservatives have deep felt beliefs that cannot be compromised such as bailouts for those who helped create our problems, belief in or against more central control of government, balanced budgets, pro-abortion or pro-life, the death penalty, homosexuals, immigration control, and the direction of public education. Since there is little chance of compromise I think it is only right that both sides fight it out politically and fail if they can't win the battle of public opinion. If there are no moral absolutes then who cares who wins. If there are moral absolutes then we should all consider the consequents of ignoring them and not taking sides.

I must say I assumed I would hear a liberal praise of the President.
I appreciate the fact that you were willing to do this. Isn't it too bad you needed to spend so much time saying conservatives are nice, and that they aren't bad people, etc. This is because they have wrongly been painted as bad people.
Eventually, enough average americans will wake up and set the ship in a new direction.
Thanks for the post!
